Overall, I really enjoyed the course. I was able to achieve everything I set out to learn, plus a few things I didn’t even know were possible!‍

Why did you enroll in the Enki?‍

Before EnkiCamp I had self-taught myself SQL when I was a backend engineer but I still struggled with certain elements of SQL, especially joins. I took EnkiCamp because I wanted to advance my understanding of SQL with formalized training. ‍

How did you find Enki in general?‍

I thought the course was very good! I definitely achieved my goal of understanding joins properly. I also got a lot more confident on using counts, averages, group by’s, giving alias to columns, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the interface, I liked how the content was presented. Having a bit to read and then an exercise meant that I was able to progress at a reasonable pace while ensuring I was understanding and memorizing the bite-sized lessons. ‍

What are you empowered in now that you weren’t before?‍

After taking the course I now feel confident that I can analyze the logs and the database. I’m more aware of that, and so if I’m having a discussion or have to make a decision, I feel much more prepared to communicate my thoughts and get my desired results. Having an in-depth understanding of SQL means I’m able to get more value from information. The information and data was always there! But it wasn’t being used to its full potential. I’m now another person that can make good use of that data.‍

How are your new skills impacting your work?‍

My new SQL skills have increased both my self-sufficiency and my time efficiency at work. I’m now spending less time googling how I can achieve my needs, and less time distracting the back end engineers in our team. Growing my confidence in SQL has really shifted how I approach the database and has impacted my work for the better.
